the new store

hi beautiful people, sorry its been so long, but the internet cafe i was using while all the coms in my life have broken down, refused to let me view my blog! so here are some pretty pictures of how the new beatnik bazaar is looking so far! i've never been able to find wallpaper that i liked, as wallpaper is incredibly difficult to source in this town anyway, but i took a chance on this monochromatic floral design....and it works beautifully! ahhhh, i'm so happy.....i told you earlier that i had a clear vision of what i wanted this store to look like and for the first time, my vision has come to life. my little space is certainly not finished yet; i still need more shop fittings and lots more stock, but you're welcome to come see it!

the shops address is 111 waterkant street, de waterkant, opposite origin roastery and its called 'mythology & company.' remember that i'm only occupying a little space inside a large victorian building with many little shop spaces inside!

i'll be packing

i'll be packing and moving things into my new shop space this weekend and i'm aiming for it to be ready by tuesday next week. in the mean time i'll leave you with these beautiful gift ideas for christmas. these metal cut out light boxes make a gift that any friend or family member would love, and at only r260, they don't break the bank either. i will most definitely be buying my mother a few of these metal keyholder hooks for her birthday and for christmas, as she loses her keys up to once an hour, every single day! the smaller hooks cost r180 and measure 500mm in length and the larger ones measure a wopping 800mm in length and are r400. they are available in a variety of colours, my favourites being white, red and chocolate metallic.

here's a look at the beautiful old building that's been renovated in the area of de waterkant, that i plan to set up shop in. the concept of the emporium was inspired by the mythology crew's overseas trips some time ago, where designers and shop owners had small spaces within a larger building in melbourne, australia. most of us are actually from kalk bay, with the mythology girls having done a brilliant job bringing the breezy, laid back and summery kalk bay feeling to their de waterkant store. the store is across the road from origin and is located in a trendy and vibey area, where most of the old victorian and edwardian buildings have been preserved, lending the area a quirky and historical feel. i predict that de waterkant, with the newly finished cape quarter shopping complex, is going to become the shopping destination in cape town. well here's hoping!!!!!!!!!! being a few hundred metres away from the world cup stadium won't hurt sales either!

soon i'm going to have this gorgeous jewellery in store, made by the talented durban designer, genevieve. aint they be beautiful? i can already see the floaty summer dress i'd be wearing with the birdcage necklace.....mmmm dreamy.

my inspiring wolf

its been a while since i posted about magick, my malamute x husky. magick was the inspiration behind the wolf, in my shops logo, cos he's my soul mate and he rocks. he loves to sing and howl and can say 'mama.' he does a few tricks, including a disappearing act. he talks all the time and we truly adore each other. you'll be seeing magick as a design influence in some of my creations in the future! he's just the cutest, most beautiful werewolf in the world.
