grey walls are officially rad

my new cottage has the loveliest newly plastered and painted light grey walls so i've been checking out the interwebs for decor inspiration. check it out. i found most of the images through holly's post on decor8. grey walls are officially my most favourite wall colour, they make decorating so easy, cos anything goes with grey walls. the vintage look, the retro look, the classic modern look, the glam look - its amazing!

crazy beautiful quilts

look whats in store this weekend! mmmmmmmmmmmmm! just makes u want to dive infront of the fire with a snuggle wump boyfriend and hot chocolate, doesn't it?

something starting with an 'r'

the bday boy, chanelling richy rich
the band, crimson

my sister nicole and i

last weekend i went to two parties in one night, a house-warming at my friend lauren (fowler) and one at my friend ruari's house, for his 30th bday. we all had to go as something starting with an 'r.' my sister went as a rockstar and i went as a red indian. we were blown away at the awesome get-ups when we arrived at the totally rad party that had a band playing outside in a tented dancefloor in their garden. my beatnik model samantha, who came as the 'red queen,' was wearing my favourite outfit of the evening and she also brought her handy boyfriend darryn, who snapped all these pics. darryn and kirsty's cousin roxanne came as a referee and was red carding poor unsuspecting folk at every turn!

good. better. casamento.

casamento have opened in town again at the biscuit mill, which means you won't have to wait til saturdays to see their furniture creations at the neighbourgoods market. i discovered them a few years ago and have watched their awe inspiring artistry unfold. i'm not going to lie or beat around the bush here - i would, ok i might be willing to do these things to have anything from casamento in my house: french kiss an oompa loompa; listen to nickleback or prime circle and finally, i'd even consider wearing over the knee studded black boots, dancing to house music at tiger tiger if it meant that i'd own a casamento piece.

more inspiration

you'll notice that i'll be focusing...um, actually obsessing over interiors for the next while. i've finally found amazing pictures of creative interiors on ffffound that look asthough they sprung straight from the loins of frankie magazine.

work stays

most of you won't remember this but when i started this blog almost 2 years ago, i worked full-time as a copywriter for a big company that owns hundreds of properties, guest houses and hotels. i currently freelance for the same company and recently spent the weekend at one of their hotels in hermanus, which was rocking, but it was also awesome to be a tourist in a place that i've been to a thousand times. here's an out take from a book store we were photographing. gotta have that journal!

new blog face

i think that jo's button candy blog is one of the prettiest blogs in the world yet she still manages to surprise us all, putting on a new blog face. have you seen?

what's your style?

the owner of the cottage i'm moving into has asked me to let her know what 'my style' is so that she can match it with wall colours, shelving, fittings and lights etc. now this is one seriously loaded question. seriously, i mean, what is my style? so i mailed her a few pics yet i'm sure they'll confound her. i love many styles but usually find that i gravitate towards the vintage and retro homely collector type look. i have an interior store, so of all people i should really be more decided on this topic, but i find my style developes and changes, influenced by so many factors. hey, at least its not cold white cheap tiles, formica tv unit and russels 3 piece suite style! do you know what your style is?

new couches to slouch on at beatnik!

hey guys, i've got these awesome couches available through my online store. (there's no space in my real store!) they're r4500 including upholstery fabric and there are more designs coming, so watch this space! if you have your own idea of what fabric to cover it in, the designer can tell you where to get great discount fabric from. the couch frame and foam are excellent quality, with great lines and finishes. so what are you waiting for?!

a guest post on kim gray's blog

i have a melbourne admirer? party on! excellent!

my first shoot ever

i've just received this sweet email from my 'melbourne admirer.'

Hi there, I started following your blog through Frankie magazine's blog, and have adored your dreamy photos of the coast, landscape etc. I was wondering what camera you use? Is the vignetting part of the camera (or photshopped)? Love your collection, am saving up for those beautiful quilted bedspreads (if there's any left!)...from a Melbourne admirer...

thank you for the lovely email, 'admirer.' i use a photo editing program to touch up some of my photo's and i use a samsung pro camera, which is really just a fancy digital camera and not an slr. i look forward to buying myself a canon someday, along with a few other gadgets that would make my blogging simpler and better, (macbook, iphone etc) although i've used the samsung for all 3 of my beatnik bazaar shoots and its been fine. the quilts are made up from order, so they will never run out! hope to hear from you soon!
