happy halloween for sunday. the holiday that started because of supersticious farmers dressing up as scary ghosts to shoo away the evil curses of winter (that they believed may ruin their crops) has turned into a haunting worldwide money-making phenomenon. boo! (all images from 'we heart it.')

somebody to lean on

my old classmates and i gathered together on sunday to show our love for a friend of ours who has just lost his brother, who was on a spiritual journey in india. we spent the afternoon at his beautiful place in hout bay, which leads down to a river, with its own forest and resident pig! it was a beautiful setting, perfect for the occasion. i haven't seen some of my old classmates for over 10 years and was reminded of what a thoroughly unpretentious and real bunch they all are. it was a sad occasion to reconnect but the man we were there to honour would have been overjoyed to experience the love we all have for him and the family he's left behind.

we conquered simonstown on sunday morning, rewarding ourselves with an amazing breakfast at the meeting place. we acted like kids in a bicycle gang, it was so refreshing!

woah, check out the awesome things we made at bitchcraft today! lauren rode her bicycle from kalk bay and still had enough energy to do some cross-stitch hoops. how beautiful are abbey's crocheted hexagons? oh my word....my friends are so talented.

morning pedal

lauren, marietjie and i went for a pedal this morning on our rad vintage bicycles. it was awwwwwwwwesome!

who can give me a pop up shop?

beatnik bazaar needs a place in town to pop up this season! if you know who i can speak to, how i can do it or what i can do to make this happen, i would love you and send you a gift! pop up shop = a space that is standing empty that could be put to better use or a place the tenant has left empty just before season or small part of a bigger retail space with like-minded creative types, all preferably in a place frequented with at least some foot traffic!

field office loves bloggers

when i was at field office a few days ago, amy suggested a special gathering for us bloggers sometime soon at theirs. i can't wait to see what she comes up with...i'll let you know the date and all the details soonest.

4 hour bike ride

i certainly didn't intend on going for a 4 hour bike ride yesterday, nor walking my bike for the last 3 km's because my thighs decided to go awol but i did get some pretty shots en route, from glencairn to boulders and back. (i took them with my phone camera) i came back exhausted, thirsty and ravenous and didn't stop shovelling food into my face for the rest of the day. i did far better on my glencairn to muizenberg and back route, it must have something to do with pedaling with a friend.

field office

i mentioned 'field office' on my blog a few posts back and one of the young owners invited me round for lunch today. i couldn't wait to get my own shots of this rad new coffee shop and creative hub in barrack street, near assembly. 'field office' is an initiative by pedersen + lennard, the talented guys who have decked out the barn and lodge at 'old mac daddy's.' they serve deluxe coffee, will's amazing sandwiches, fresh juice and cupcakes, amongst other things, all presented beautifully in their signature relaxed fashion. the coffee shop serves as a showcase for the pedersen + lennard furniture and as a creative meeting space for freelancers. you can take your laptop, order coffee, grab yourself one of will's incredible sarmies and take a few cupcakes home as a memento. i'm going to make an excuse to go there as often as possible and judging by the foot traffic there today, i'm not alone.
