huge stanford weekend coming up

it was just a perfect day in stanford yesterday. we spent the entire day in the river, what bliss! the biggest weekend in stanford is coming up this weekend, from the 30th of september to the 2nd of october, including the birding festival, the vintage fair, the car boot sale, the church bazaar and the art route through baardskeedersbos! i'll be launching a little business i've been working on inside the stanford hotel courtyard, so come along for the weekend and party with us. check out accommodation here

potting about

i took some pics of scenes around my house and garden today - even the flower seller got his mug on my blog. check out our baby spinach - it's coming along nicely. our fig tree is finally showing signs of life...figs and cinnamon cream, anyone? i have now become a potterer, that is, someone who 'pots about'. flip, i've always wanted to be on and i'm loving it!

another terrible day in stanford

my neighbour wanted to come round for tea but because i was a little late returning home, he just got stuck into my garden...for three hours! so i whipped up some flapjacks, which i served with double thick cream and strawberries (shame), and we edged the flower beds, re-planted grass, dug a firepit, started a compost heap, levelled the paving at the entrance to the magical floral kingdom, weeded, raked, sieved soil and planted tomatoes.

vintage swimwear in south africa

my friend natalie roos recently wrote a post about vintage swimwear on her blog, asking where they can be found in south africa. the only places i've encountered any here, are at country road (the third collage) and foshini. beach bunny have apparently just arrived in sa (see picture 2), so try giving them a whirl and love water love usually have some beautiful vintage inspired pieces. the last resort is to order online (as in picture 1) at a shop like 'for luna'.
